Who Are You

Who Am I ?

Good question. People often describe themselves by the practical things; hair, name, age, area where they live. But is that really who they are? Surely, there is more to a person then just physical things? If I said ‘I am Chelsey and I have blonde hair and blue eyes’, there are probably hundreds of other Chelsey-s who match that description.

If someone where to ask me who I was, I wouldn’t just say what I look like. That’s not who I am, that’s what my body is. All the scars, freckles, spots; that’s not me. So, who am I?

I am the girl who will sit in the rain for hours just because I like how it feels. I am the girl who will read to little children because their imagination is still in full bloom and their expressions are wonderful. I am the girl who finds rainbows scary and will try to run from them when they’re in the sky.

Get the idea? Basically, what I am trying to say is that, we may have scars on our skin, wear glasses, have black hair or blonde or even blue but it means nothing. It doesn’t make us, us. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.

And remember, self-harm, drug-abuse, mental illness, disabilities ... they may feel like they define you, but they don’t. It may feel like it is what or why everyone knows you for, and maybe some small minded people do. But there is so much more to a person and if someone can not see that, they’re not worth your time.

So give it a go.
