That Which Is Unnatural Is Not Necessarily Bad Co

In this rapidly changing world, scientific discoveries and technological advancement have brought about many changes in our lives. We are surrounded by many unnatural creations that have served us well. Basically, `unnatural' is defined as inventions by the human race, things that are not formed by Mother Nature. Some examples would be plastic surgeries that helped people regain their confidence, or the discovery of genetically modified food, which aided in reducing the number of people dying or starvation. There have been debates whereby some of man's actions or creations have detrimental effects, for instance in the case of cloning and the construction of man-made habitats for animals. Certain groups of people believe that these doings have more disadvantages. However, in my view, it is not entirely true. Hence, things which are unnatural are not always bad.

Firstly, in today's youth-oriented society where image is an important factor, more and more male and female try the latest in plastic surgery techniques designed to keep them looking younger. Though it is an artificial way to rejuvenate one's look, the costly price paid may be worth it. This is because body image plays a major role in how we see ourselves, and can color our perception of how we think others see us. When we think negatively, it can drag down self-esteem or cause depression. This is reinforced by the media which portrays the picture perfect Hollywood stars. With cosmetic surgery, it helps one look as young as they feel. The patient is able to take pride in his or her face and body, as well as have an optimistic outlook in life. Moreover, in cases where accidents or abuse have resulted in deformities, plastic surgery will erase the scars of abuse and past. Patients can then regain their confidence.
