Water Pollution

Introduction
    Water pollution is the contamination of water by foreign substances such as chemicals, pesticides, animal wastes, sewage, disease, and organic matter. There are two primary sources of water pollution, point source and non-point source pollution. Point source pollution originates from specific locations, and can bet traced to specific pipes or ditches and is generally waste or effluent from industry or sewage treatment. Non-point source pollution originates from a much broader area and is contributed to by a number of different sites that can be agricultural, mining, logging, natural (rivers scouring banks, fire sites) and urban areas.     We as humans require clean water for healthy lives, yet as we live our lives, we continue to foul that which we need most for our survival. This is why we must begin down a road to treat all water in our community to ensure its purity and cleanliness. In the following paragraphs, I will lay out a plan for an ongoing commitment to reducing water pollution in the entire community environment. Some will say that such broad based treatment will be too costly to implement, but done in a graduated manner costs can be managed.  
Water Pollution Management and Sustainment Plan
Action Items: My plan for water pollution management in the community is to develop an educational program of pollution control for the community. Hold community meetings to explain the need for water pollution management. Hold educational water pollution seminars for the public and community leaders. Develop a time line for assessment of existing storm drain systems to determine need for replacement to eliminate seepage. Study peak rainfalls to determine reasonable peak flow runoff storage needs. Begin implementation of secondary water supply system network during new construction and existing system repair...
