Wanna Be A Teacher

What job requires working with children, teenagers, or even adults and brings instant gratification? If a person guessed a teacher, they are correct. A teacher is a person who helps other people learn new things and acquire the knowledge needed to become responsible citizens, earn a living, and to lead useful and rewarding lives. To become a teacher, there are some things that a person needs to know. Those things include job requirements to be qualified, the benefits of the job, potential for advancement in the field, technology use in the field, special skills the job may require, job outlook (future), physical and mental demands of the job, education/training required to be hired, salary/income, a typical work day, and related fields.

Almost all teacher-training programs in the United States and Canada are offered at general colleges or universities. Most U.S. training programs include three main types of courses: general education courses, which are also called liberal arts courses, professional teaching courses; and advanced courses in a specific type of study, such as English or Mathematics (World Book).

For many teachers, the greatest reward of teaching is the opportunity to work with and influence new people. Teachers enjoy seeing students succeed at their studies and develop into productive and responsible citizens (World Book). Seeing students develop new skills and gain an appreciation of knowledge and learning can be very rewarding (Occupational Outlook Handbook). "The ability to do something that I love is the primary benefit. Vacation in the summer as well as at Christmas as well as being a life long learner," says Jerry Eaton, who is currently a French/Spanish teacher at Vanden High School. Most employers provide typical insurance and other benefits, including sick leave and dental insurance. Many also provide vision insurance and a retirement plan.
