Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire proceeded to be one of the most tragic events in New York history. The blaze began when a pile of cloth caught on fire. Many of the workers were unable to escape from death, because the factory had locked the doors to prevent the workers from leaving their assignment.
Due to the factory's careless action of holding the workers in captivity, nearly 150 employees tragically died. Several burned to death or suffered breathing in fumes of smoke. Others took an extensive journey to their death. Following the horrific fire, New York, as well as additional states, passed safety laws that gave workers a better chance of keeping their life in the work place.
In conclusion, it is obvious that the employees of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory suffered a tragic death. This event is a perfect example of workers mistreated by their employer. As a result of someone's "not so smart thinking," many lives were lost. However, new laws were enforced by the government to protect workers of experiencing a similar tragedy.
