Time Management
Time management seems to be a constant issue with me and my daily life. It does not matter if I have my day planned from start to finish I become easily distracted and procrastinate. I always wait until I have a deadline due in my daily life to start on my work. I am constantly rushing out the door to get to work on time. This seems to be a constant problem for me to always wait until the last moment to accomplish my tasks. I have a tendency to justify my procrastination in my mind and then when I realize I have run out of time I get upset later I will tell myself that I will not make the same mistake again, but always do.
Effective time management is one of the most important factors for succeeding in life. Despite my success in high school and receiving my first college degree I have a big problem with effective time management. My first step to solve this problem is to gather information on procrastination and find steps to prevent this from happening. I do this to improve my time management skills and become more productive. An article I recently read in psychology today states: "There are many ways to avoid success in life, but the most sure-fire just might be procrastination. Procrastinators sabotage themselves. They put obstacles in their own path. They actually choose paths that hurt their performance." (Marano, 2003) This article speaks volumes to me as I see myself in a lot of these statements.   My second step to take would be to perform a self assessment; which I feel would be a key step in creating a professional and personal development plan.
