The Time I Had Surgery
Have you ever had to have a major surgery at a young age? Well, two years and ten months ago when I was fourteen I had to experience a major surgery. When I moved out of state after my eighth grade year to Portsmouth, Ohio, I found out I would have to have surgery.
The way I found out that I would have to need surgery was near the end of November that year. When I went to the hospital because I was sick and throwing up. When I got to the hospital they drew blood, put an IV in my arm, and got me ready to take a cat scan. During the scan, they saw something at the bottom of my stomach. So then they took me to a room to get a pelvic ultrasound to get a better look. That is when they saw something wrong with my left ovary and told me I would have to have surgery to get it removed. The doctors at the hospital sent me to a female obstetrician and gynecologist, whose name was Dr. Arnett, and she would be the one to do the surgery. They told me I would have surgery a week later and informed me what to do to get ready and what to bring.
When I got to the hospital they drew blood and put a IV in my arm and I was very scared. They took me to the surgery room and a man told me that it was ok and that he was going to make sure that nothing wrong would happen. He got a shot ready to put the IV in my arm and told me it would put me right to sleep. As he injected the shot into the IV I thought in my mind that I was going to fight the shot so I wouldn’t have to have surgery. Before I knew it I was waking up in the recovery room and was in bad pain. I had to stay in the hospital for three days and could not eat solid food, I had to drink liquids and I really didn’t like it because it would not leave me full. When I was in my room Dr. Arnett came to see me and my parents to tell us what was wrong with my ovary. She told us that I have a cyst on my ovary that got so big the cyst...
