“TAKE A POSTION…
MOVE MOUNTAINS”

“It’s Kings birthday, for 14 years we’ve had the opportunity to renew our commitment to his dream, renew our commitment to our children and renew our commitment to the eradication of racism.” Proclaimed Timothy T Mohone during the introduction of Gateway Technical College’s 14th annual Dr. Martin Luther King , Jr. Celebration.
The program couldn’t have been opened any better. The tone was set for a day of remembering the greatness of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and to show how he has inspired us all with his brilliant speeches and his miraculous visions.
There was a lifting opening statement by Pastor Manuel Lozano of the Word of Faith Family Church.
Next up was Janet Days. Janet Days was the program coordinator for the Dr. King Celebration. Mrs. Days is also the Multicultural, Nontraditional Occupation, and Displaced Homemaker programs coordinator at Gateway. Janet Days graciously gave recognition to their “Dream Team” for putting the program together. Then giving acknowledgement to the late Carl Schroeder, for his great contributions to programs over the years. Speaking on the Gateway Scholarship honoring Mr. Schroeder. Also sincerely thanking everyone for attending, afterward leaving us with a quote of her own. “And I hope today that you will leave inspired to be the change you want to see in the world, and take a stand”. Spoken like a true heroine.
Followed by a wonderful musical performance by the Colorful Creators of Edward Bain School of Language and Arts in Kenosha.

Gateway’s phenomenal President Bryan Albrecht spoke on leadership through action and sacrificing for volunteer services in our community. Saying that, “More young people being able to sing the voices of success in our community”. “ That’s the symbol of excellence Dr. King has set for all of us.” Which was emphasized by President Albrecht.
