Dial-up Internet Connection vs. High-speed Internet Connection
The United States has evolved into a country that relies heavily on the use of the internet. The internet serves many purposes such as advertising, shopping, and accessible information on a variety of topics. The internet is used by millions of people everyday for work, educational needs, and for personal entertainment. The internet is resourceful and is as close as the click of a few buttons. For some, that is. For others, it is a very frustrating and discouraging experience.
There are many internet service providers to choose from. Internet service providers offer many advantages of their using their services. Some of the highlights of their service are the cost of using the service, the accessibility to their service, and the compatibility of their service with the computer software. But it does not matter which internet service provider someone chooses, it is the type of connection being used that ultimately makes surfing the internet a good or bad experience. When you or I choose a type of connection, we look for one that meets the criteria we place on what makes a good connection. I look for a fast connection, one with the least amount of hardware change requirements, use limitations, and fast web-page loading. Dial-up does not meet all the criteria to qualify as a good internet connection. While it does meet the least amount of hardware change criteria, it does not meet the expectations of fast connection, fast web-page loading and it does have use limitations.
Most computers come with an internal modem. The only hardware you or I would need to add is an active telephone line. A draw back to this is the phone cannot be used for voice calls during the time you are connected to the internet.
