Rants On Philosophy

Globalization is a series of social, economic, technologic, cultural, and political changes that promote interdependence and growth. Growth insinuates that globalization raises the standard of living in countries and therefore spreads technological knowledge, and increases political liberation. The main cause of globalization is influence from other, more developed, countries. Globalization is a historical process that results from human innovation and technological progress. The social effects of globalization are clearly illustrated in a number of ways. This essay will use the examples of India and China and discuss the impact that globalisation have had on the national identity and security of the state.
In order to answer this question, I will first explore the main theories regarding the role of the nation state within today’s global economic order, to gain an understanding of the academically accepted view regarding the question. I will then go on to identify what is meant by the term ‘political power’, and investigate how each part of this is affected by the process of globalization. It is important to note that each nation state has been affected by the process in different ways, dependent upon the strength of the state.

It can be argued that globalization has evolved in an increasing manner over the 20th century. Further, the idea and effect of the world become more and more integrated has increased exponentially.
Identity politics have never fully been explored or defined. The term identity in itself is very loose in its definition. Over the 20th century, we have seen a gradual integration of the concepts of identity into the spectrum of politics. Identity pursuits are now seen as political as they are struggles that will determine the power relationships within a society or nation.
