Problem Solution: Global Communications

In this problem solution I show basic communication mistakes made by the Global communications management team. I detail challenges presented because of those mistakes and offer suggestions to those business communication breakdowns. The basis of my investigation is to create a win, win, win for the company, employees and the Union. I propose that by implementing an at home call center solution solving many of the issue related to the gaps in the communication.

Situation Analysis
Issue and Opportunity Identification
According to McShane, S. L., Von Glinow, M.A. Organizational Behavior: Emerging Realities for the Workplace Revolution, 3e (2005), effective communication is vital to all organizations because it coordinates employees, fulfills employee needs, supports knowledge management, and improves decision making. First, organizations depend on the ability of people to coordinate their individual work effort toward a common goal. Information exchange is an essential part of the coordination process, allowing employees to develop common mental models that synchronize their work.
Global Communications has communication breakdowns in many areas of the company. Katrina the CEO at Global Communications announced that the board approved the new plan to outsource employees from the United States to Ireland and India. She was very excited about the board’s decision to reduce employee headcount locally, thus cutting costs by nearly 40%. In this plan however, the welfare of the employees was lost and the communication about the plan did not involve the Union representative. Katrina did not include Maria in any communications. This resulted in the Union feeling foolish in the eyes of their representatives.
Ultimately Katrina held to an inflexible stance on every staff...
