Philosophy Of Nursing
Throughout the years, the profession of nursing has evolved into a dynamic practice that not only focuses on the patients’ physical well-being, but also on their emotional and spiritual well-being. The core of nursing focuses on the concepts of environment, person, health, and nursing to set the foundation for future health-care professionals along with the professional community. Health care professionals should have a goal in mind to get to know their patient and care about their beliefs and feelings, not just to diagnose their patient’s illness. My philosophy of nursing shall stay with me and form the framework of my life-long practice in the health care profession so that I can go home each day know that I have touched somebody’s heart in a way that they will not forget.
Being able to touch a person’s heart will help them live in the world with happiness, taking the things that you have helped them accomplish and using that in everyday life. There are many forces in this environment that affect the client’s health and the kind of care that they receive. As nurses, we need to understand the kind of environment that our patient lives in. Some individuals work/ live in places that are more susceptible to diseases than other individuals. The homeless and those with no health insurance do not have the money to have vaccinations that the majority of individuals in the US do have. Nurses need to find out about their patient’s environment during the assessment so they can treat the patient in the best possible way.
The environment is also full of forces in the that influence an individual—passion , determination, family, goals, and the ability to share our knowledge. Unfortunately, I have seen health care professionals that are influenced by one major thing—money.
