Paris
I am going to start with some common facts about the city of Paris: it is on the Europe continent and is the capital of France. The currency used there is the Euro and the Parisians speak French Paris is divided into 20 districts called "arrondissements" and they are numbered 1 to 20, I was born in the 16th but when I attended La Sorbonne, I had my apartment in the 1st.(slide 1).
I am now going to focus on the things to do when in Paris.
A The monuments to visit
1 The Eiffel tower
Once the tallest structure in the world, the Eiffel Tower is probably Europe's best known landmark and Paris's most famous symbol.
You couldn't possibly visit Paris without seeing the Eiffel Tower.
Even if you do not want to visit it, you will see its top from all over Paris. It rises 300 meters tall (984 ft).
The Eiffel Tower was built for the World Exhibition in 1889, held in celebration of the French Revolution in 1789.
The construction was only meant to last for the duration of the Exposition, but it still stands today. The Eiffel Tower has become, over the years, the symbol of the City of Light.
The man behind the Eiffel Tower was Gustave Eiffel, He was also known for the construction of the Statue of Liberty's iron framework.
The structure took more than two years to complete. Each one of the about 12,000 iron pieces were designed
separately to give them exactly the shape needed. All pieces were prefabricated and fit together using approx. 7 million nails.
At night, the lights go one and it is truly breathtaking.
2- Arc de Triomphe
In the middle of the Place Charles de Gaulle, at the border of the 8th, 16th and 17th arrondissement stands one of the greatest arches in history: the Arc de Triomphe (arch of triumph).
