Organizational Communication

There are many different types of leadership styles that have an affect of group communication within an organization. All organizations have all kinds of sources of power from personal power to personal power. Motivational theories can play a big role within an organization. “Motivation is the processes that account for an individual’s intensity, direction, and persistence of effort toward attaining a goal” (Robbins & Judge, 2007). Motivation can play a key role in an organization with employees. It can help employees stay on track when it comes to completing their jobs.
Google employees are very open when it comes to communications at lunch time; employees sit at the same café and have discussions with one another. Everyone is encouraged to speak out when it comes to any concerns. The owners of Google hold weekly meetings to anser any concerns or questions employees have. Employees are never scared to state any concerns since the owners always make them feel part of the company. The different leadership’sstyles are charismatic leadership, transformational leadership, and transactional leadership.
“Charismatic leadership theories are followers that make attributions of heroic or extraordinary leadership abilities when they observe certain behaviors” (Robbins & Judge, 2007). Charismatic leaders are known in helpingtheir teams move forward but have a tendency in believing in themselves more than their teams. An organization wouldfall apart if their charismatic leader were to leave. Google does not have charismatic leadership, the owners are not just about themselves. They encourage their employees to speak out with any concerns they have. The owners of Google care more about their employees and their wellbeing. “Transformational leaders are leaders who inspire followers to transcend their own self-interests and who are capable of having a profound and extraordinary effect on followers” (Robbins & Judge, 2007).
