Obeying Orders
The consequences of disobeying orders can be the difference between life and
death. (11) The importance of following orders will be explained throughout this essay.
(20) It is crucial to always follow orders given because it could lead to an unwanted
accident. (30) Accidents include death to the innocent, minor to severe injuries, and can
lead to Uniform Code of Military Justice punishment. (46) If you were to disobey an
order in a time of war that could lead to many serious consequences. (58) You could kill
yourself, let alone another soldier. (66) No one would want to live with that burden
knowing they are the person responsible of having taken the life of someone innocent or
causing death to one of my fellow soldiers. (90) The order I disobeyed was not bringing
in my Class A dress uniform to be inspected before the St. Barbara Day Ball when
requested by Sergeant Zanella. (109) It was a small order, but was meant to be taken very
serious. (119) And I failed to do so, and now because of my actions I have placed a
blemish in the eyes of my fellow soldiers and non-commissioned officers of myself.
(137) And I now have to correct my practices by changing my actions of what was done.
(147) Through the coarse of my five almost six years of being in the army I should
perform better then the way I did. (164) The time that I have spent being a specialist I
should know that these actions where not acceptable. (179) I might not be a non-
commissioned officer, but I should still behave with the expectations of one. (192) This
includes neat and clean attire, well shaven, respectful, and abide the orders that are given
to me. (210) I am accepting my punishment and have greatly learned from my mistakes.
(218) I should lead by example to newly enlisted young soldiers instead of standing out
by causing trouble and disobeying a direct order. (234) If I were a non-commissioned
