The word "miracle" comes from Latin "miraculum; mirari" which means "to wonder", in general, a wonderful thing, event that is contrary to the laws of nature and is assumed to be the result of supernatural or divine intervention . All religions have the their own sorts of miracles and most religions include a belief in miracles. In Judaism, Christianity and Islam miracles are regarded as signs of the omnipotence of God. In the Christian History, as in the Bible also, we learn that animate things are instruments of Divine power, not because they have any excellence in themselves, but through a special relation to God.
The Christian History records numerous miracles. The supreme miracles of Christianity are the Incarnation and the Resurrection . On these two miracles rests the historic faith of the Christian church. They are presented by the gospel writers as the works of the Messiah , and were regarded as part of the proclamation of the kingdom of God, designed to awaken repentance and turn people toward God rather than to provoke mere wonder. Christians believe that such miracles were performed so that the people may further realize the Divine in Jesus Christ. As human beings, people are inclined to believe only those things which they have seen for themselves. Christian belief teaches that miracles still take place, as in every previous century.
