The Meaning of Respect within the Military.
Respect within the Military basically means treat others as you would want to be treated. It is one of the basic Army Values. It is by far one of the most important values that we have. It is the one that keeps everyone acting polite and curiosities towards everyone. This is one of the NCO’s basic responsibilities to make sure that everyone has respect. This is something that everyone has to make sure that they are teaching everyone at an early time once they arrive into the unit. Even when a person first enters the Army they are taught the meaning of respect within the Military.
Sometimes in the Military we often lack respect when we don’t truly understand the meaning of the word. We throw around the word 'respect' very glibly, as a single cure-all for everything we do. But respect is not just one term. It carries six other dimensions within it. Respect starts with curiosity. When we show a person curiosity is sets the basics for future meetings and the ability to take care of the person in a time of need.
Disrespect can be found in many different forms. One form of disrespect is verbal. If you do not say the right things, the receivers can take one thing you said wrong and that could cause a lot of trouble for the transceiver. Because when he or she says the wrong then it’s all depending on the beholder. The other form or respect is non-verbal. This is shown by ones actions towards a person; it can be as small as a simple rolling of one’s eyes to the extreme as to flipping a person off in anger.
Respect is found in the same way as disrespect but for the sign of Respect is that the person shows you their upmost attention to every detail that is put out to the person.
