Media Influences
The most prevalent media within my everyday schedule is television and Internet. Every morning I begin my day by surfing the Internet and watching the news on the television. Nowadays, there is a high demand for the delivery of information or news at a quick rate; guiding most of society to leave print behind and direct them to Internet and TV. Overall, I would say that most Americans are most influenced by television and the web among all other types of media usage.
Society has become hooked on the constant flow of information that is provided via web, because of its’ convenience and role that it plays in the working class’s everyday world. When the Internet is launched, a homepage is opened, and that alone exhibits an endless supply of information. Whether one checks the internet for email, weather forecast, social networking, programs of business or personal interest, the routine use of the World-Wide Web has become an accustomed practice. With technology continuously on the rise, most believe that the Internet is constructing future generations to be more engaged as well as intellectually aware.
Though the Internet dominantly appears to be a benefit, many argue that cyberspace is a mixed-blessing. It is common for an internet-using worker to increase work time in the home, or an individual to replace intimate relationships with online means of communication (i.e. Facebook, MySpace, AOL Instant Messenger). With these actions being recognized, are they placing a burden on the social interaction of family-life and social-life? It is safe to say that Internet media has changed human behavior drastically, while the opinion of such being a positive or negative effect lay in the hands of the participants.
