English is spoken by more than 300 million people as a first language. It is a big language and millions of people have english as a second language. One fifth of all the people in the world have the knowledge to read and speak a more simplified or international English. This is what we can call Global English. It is the English that is used in commercial television and in films and series.
The global English has been spread all over the world. If you are a tourist you can travel to anywhere you want and still be able to communicate with other people, and just using English.
The Internet and the television have been the main reasons for the global spread. To have one language that everyone understands makes the communicate much easier.
The Global English is a very important tool fore the countries to communicate. Not just in business and policy it is also useful for “ordinary people” to take part of international information. In many schools they have English as a separate lesson where you just learn English. The reason for this is to make the English an even bigger language and to make it easier for countries to communicate in the future.
The English will spread more and it isn’t a bad thing. It will make the world more like one country. The communication will get better and countries will probably not quarrel over so many trifles anymore. It will get much easier and faster to say what you want and it wouldn’t be so many misunderstandings.
There is several different variations of English.
You don’t have all the same words and the same dialect in all countries. But it is still the same language with the same frame. Maybe you can say that the Global English is the frame of all the other Englishes. With the knowledge of Global English you can speak and understand a person from Australia, New Zealand or any other English speaking country.
