INNOVATION IN MOBILE PHONES

Introduction

      Innovation in Mobile Phones had created the new dimension of performance in technology. It is the Disruptive Innovation technology which changes the way people live in their daily activities. It is a technological innovation, product, or service that eventually overturns the existing dominant technology or product in the market.

      Today’s Mobile Phones are not only used as a mere communication tool to contact each other, now it also has variation kinds of applications. Due to the rapid improvement in Technology, Innovation in Mobile Phones has also grown rapidly these days.

      At the beginning, mobile phones primary function was to call, or send messages toward each other. People communicate only through voice calls or Short Messages Text Service. But now, mobile phones provide many innovative applications in communication which make people’s life better, easier, and faster such as Multimedia Messages Service (MMS), Push-to-talk (PTT), video calling, Internet browsing, instant messaging, e-mail, etc. These features can be found in certain mobile phones which installed them.

      In spite of that, mobile phones also provide other application features to entertain the users as well. For example, features such as music (MP3) Playback, memo recording, personal organizer functions, built-in cameras and camcorders, ringtones, games, radio, infrared and Bluetooth connectivity, ability to watch streaming video or download video for later viewing, and serve as a wireless modem for a PC, and soon will also serve as a console of sorts to online games and other high quality games.
