Leadership is like the oil in an engine, you can have the best parts put together by the greatest minds but without the oil to keep things moving smoothly eventually the engine will stop working. Behind every successful organization there is a great leader; Wal-Mart’s Sam Walton, Chrysler’s Lee Iacocca, and of course Microsoft’s Bill Gates and while these leaders may no longer be at the helm of these organizations the wisdom and guidance with which they led remains. A good leader will challenge those around them to think smarter, work harder, and do better. They will be a cheerleader when necessary providing support and encouragement. They will play the part of a parent who sets and enforces rules and provides guidance. They will even be an adversary when it is required. A good leader will inspire and empower their employees driving them to achieve a level of success they may not have even thought possible (Bateman & Snell, 2009). There are many different leadership styles and each one has its own set of benefits and disadvantages, for an organization the key to finding success through leadership is to choose a style that will uphold and enhance a healthy organizational culture.
Participative Leadership impacts organizations success
Individuals who guide, direct and orchestrate a group toward a goal or objective are called leaders. Leading is motivating subordinates to want to achieve the goals set by the organization. A leader is one who leads by example, motivates subordinates toward achievement, and exhibits an obvious commitment to a set goal.
