Judaism
The religion that I have decided to research is Judaism. The reason for this is so I can get an understanding of why there is such conflicts between the Muslims and the Jews. Of the three main religions in the world, Judaism is the oldest. The official language is Hebrew and the main locations are Israel, Europe, and the United States.
We see violence on the news everyday, and much of it happens in the Middle East. One of the main reasons for this violence is simply because of territory and beliefs. In 1947, after World War I, the League of Nations needed to get the Jewish population out of Europe. The place they agreed on happened to be the Middle East. They gave them a small piece of land from Palestine and called it Israel. The Palestinians didn’t want to give up their land but were forced to. Over the years, with the help of the United Nations, Israel expanded its borders. Now the Palestinians are being barricaded in small sections surrounded by barbed-wire and electric fences, which is ironic because Hitler did similar things to the Jewish people f Europe. The war has been going on since 1948 and does not seem to be coming to an end anytime soon.
Judaism is the first of the three main religions, the other two being Christianity and Islam. It was founded in the year 1300 BC by the prophet Abraham in the area formerly known as Mesopotamia. The sacred books are called the Tanakh and the Talmud. These books are like their Bible or Koran. Like the two other major religions, Judaism is a monotheistic belief, which means that they believe in only one true god. The holy place for Jews to pray is called a synagogue and their holy day is on Saturday. Prayer is guided by a spiritual leader called a rabbi.
