Jane Austen
“The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid”, wrote Jane Austen, an English novelist, in her novel Northanger Abbey. And she was right,reading really is a pleasure, especially reading her books.
When I first time got her novel Pride and Prejudice in my hands, it was love at first reading. It was so lovely that I had to laugh and cry, and to go to the library and borrow more books written by her. And I didn’t have to be disappointed, all of her books are fantastic.
Jane Austen
Jane Austen (16 December 1667- 18 July 1817) is one of the most celebrated English women writer. Her books tell about love and human relationships. The main characters are clever and funny heroines finding true love.
Jane Austen was born in Steventon, Hampshire. She had a big family: a father, a mother and six siblings. The family was close-knitted and Jane, who never married, lived with her mother Cassandra and her sister Elizabeth Cassandra to the end of her life.
Jane got better education than girls usually did that time. When she was seven years old she and her sister Cassandra were sent to Oxford where they were educated at home until they left for boarding school two years later. In 1786 girls returned home because their parents didn’t have enough money to educate them. But Jane could educate herself at home by reading, because her dad had quite a big library and her dad and brother helped her too.
Jane’s adulthood was ordinary, she lived with her parents and did things which women of her time usually did. She loved dancing, and she also played piano, attended church and read stories aloud with her family. Jane never got married, although there were a couple of possible fiancés. She died at the age of 41, because she got Addison’s disease.
