Question 1
Mr Baker should assess all his channels of information coming into the boundaries of his small store and determine which approach to take. The permeable organisational boundaries in this incident are the environment surrounding his little store. The information channels coming into his boudries are:
• Mr Baker’s observation of his real competitors being the convience store
• Customer’s feedback
• Supermarket News publication
There is not doublt any organisation no matter how small and unique is subjected to a vast mass amount of information and reseach channels penetrating the organisation boundreis these days, in some incidents there maybe even cases of overload of information thus clogging up the visibility of quality and vital information. The abiltity of the individual or group at stake to filiter the quality of information and weight up its relevance is vital determining its use to formaulate th organisaton objectives and strategy.
In the case provided, Mr Baker is under the delemina of not knowning which source of information to trust and strategically align its store to towards the best possible avenue with the information on hand. All sources coming into his store boundries are suggesting a possible organisational objective of some success. The ideal solution would be for Mr Baker to firstly view the characteristics of his main customer base, and then use the available information to formulate the best solution fit to cater for his customer base.
