Importance Of Veterans Day

Veteran's Day is a very honorable day in the United States of America. It is a legal federal holiday in this country. We celebrate the great holiday every year on November 11.

Veteran's Day, which is formally known as Armistice Day, is the anniversary of the ending of World War I on November 11, 1918. This day officially took effect at eleven o' clock on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day on the eleventh month.

Armistice Day was later named to be Veteran's Day, after World War II, because it became apparent that all veterans from all american wars should be honored. So Congress changed its name in order to do so. And in 1954, President Eisenhower signed a bill brought forth by Congress to rename the holiday.

Veteran's Day is the special day to honor all veterans who went and fought in the wars. These veterans didn't just go and fight because they had to, but they fought for freedom. I don't think that this country would have been as great as it is now without veterans, because these people are the true heroes and heroines of this country. Veterans are a very special group of people. They took all their courage and left their families behind and risked their own lives for this country. Veteran's Day is celebrated in the United States of America with parades, speeches, and many other ways. This special holiday is also celebrated in the countries like Canada, where they call it Remembrance Day and in the United Kingdom, where they still call it Armistice Day.
