Higher education has been the key to many successful people; some may even say that education is an individual’s passport to the world. Since the 1600’s the American education system has been growing and expanding our minds to open doors for Americans to move ahead and excel in all areas of study. The further an individual excels in their academics the higher the reward. Some may argue that pursuing an MBA is a waste of time and money and that the idea of personal growth is foolish. The decision to pursue an MBA is difficult to make and there are many factors to consider. Those factors include timing, expenses, being out of school for a long time and simply having the motivation. The rewards are endless and far out weigh the aforementioned factors. Earning a degree is important because it improves quality of life, expands knowledge, it’s a great investment towards a great career, and it gives a sense of accomplishment.
Ms. Sanchez, a young woman struggling to make ends meet found herself with a high school diploma and working in places where she made minimum wage. After several unsuccessful attempts to be considered for other positions Ms. Sanchez realized that if she didn’t get a higher education that she will be embedded in a world of mediocrity and would never achieve any goals that were important to her. Most of the jobs that paid well required a Bachelor’s degree or higher, even if a person had experience.
While serving on active duty Ms. Sanchez decides to further her education and begins to pursue an Associates degree, taking advantage of the fact that the military paid for tuition, books and all other expenses. After earning her associates degree she decides to continue her education and earn a Bachelors degree, by this time she was getting ready to get out of the service and wanted to be prepared for the civilian work force hoping she didn’t find herself in the same predicaments as when she was younger.
