Holiday Ridiculousness

It’s ridiculous that as a society we tend to put so much emphasis on holidays. Christmas is the best example of them all.   The day after Halloween, radio stations start playing Christmas music 24/7 and lights start going up on houses as well as trees. Two months before the holiday and people are already celebrating. Not only do you get the decorations and music, you start getting these huge sales in stores getting ready for the holiday. Christmas candy that consumers get for the holidays is gone within days of purchasing, never making it to the holidays. Thousands upon thousands of calories are consumed just because it is the thing to do for that 1/6 of the year that is dedicated to celebrating a single day. There is a whole day dedicated to shopping for Christmas. You've all heard of Black Friday. Just this past year, there were accounts of two different people being trampled to death in consumers' hurry to go buy that Wii or body lotion.

Everyone eats too much and waits to go to bed until some big shiny ball drops in New York City announcing to the country,   “Yes, you have lived to see another day, and have stayed up entirely too late to prove that you can do it. All while making a fool of yourself trying to play games that even sober people can’t look cool playing.” Not only that, but many businesses have actually made this a two day holiday for their employees. People get two days off in a row for what reason? To give themselves time to get ready for a party and then time to sober up from it?
Super Bowl Sunday, yes, is a holiday. No matter how insane or ridiculous it may seem, it is. Men get together to eat too much junk food, burn their hotdogs, hamburgers and steaks on their new grill they got just for...
