Why is it that when we see celebrities the first thing to catch our eyes is how beautiful they are and the perfect body he or she has? Today in the modern world, many people find themselves putting their lives at risk due to excessive dieting and the fact of trying to get and maintain a perfect body that does not exist. The media’s focus on appearance and physical beauty is the key development to the way people perceive their body image.
No one can deny the insecurity they feel about their own body image after they see pictures of celebrities. When the public is faced with images of celebrities they are automatically astonished and amazed with their beauty and body perfection. What the public does not realize is that the media presents unrealistic images of beauty. There are a lot of secrets hidden behind the media world that we as the public do not know. For example, the celebrity “ideal” that most women admired has been achieved by cosmetic surgery, a personal stylist, chefs and a physical trainer.
There are many cultures around the world that have different customs and traditions. People’s perspectives on body image change each and every day depending on where they reside. Everyone is born into a culture where you are taught many different things about the way you should present yourself to the world and half of those cultures follow what the media shows. In Colombia beauty is the key to being successful. Every town, city and state annually organizes its own big or small beauty contest. Many agricultural products’ producers of coffee, sugar, pineapple just to name a few, also name their own beauty queen as an attraction. For all this

women worry a lot about their body image; it doesn’t matter if they are rich or poor, all of them want to feel like they are perfect. They do whatever it takes to get the beauty they want. Most
