A Ghoslty Affair

Stephanie Villa English 101 September 10, 2008 A Ghostly Affair “Not again!” we shouted as my cousins and I sat around our grandmother’s kitchen table, awaiting a delicious meal. When I was a child, my grandmother always loved to share with my cousins and I about an encounter she had with a ghost. She would tell us the same story over and over again. It got quite boring after about the one hundredth time, but for some reason it always made me awfully nervous. Everyone thought she would tell us that tale just to scare us, but she constantly swore that she really did come across some type of spirit. No one really believed her. Are ghosts real? That is a question I continuously pondered in my head as a child. There are many believers and disbelievers but only some get the chance to actually encounter a ghostly figure. At about the age of 12, four of my cousins, Angel, Amber, Brian, Mando, and I experienced something we never imagined of happening. Mando had an idea that we should go into the unfinished home and play around. We were young and we all thought that was a great idea, even though we knew we would get in trouble for it. After a long game of hide and seek, we all sat down in one of the rooms to take a little break. Mando and his younger sister, Amber, were continuously hitting each other; they loved to horse play. As I was trying to catch my breath, I suddenly felt a very strange, unexplainable feeling. While we were sitting there talking, I noticed something from the corner of my eye. As I turned my head I saw this manly figure walking across the room; he was in the shape of a man, but it had no distinctive features. I was extremely shocked and I couldn’t say a word. My cousins noticed my facial expression and looked in the direction I did. I thought for a second that just maybe I was imagining something, but when I realized they had the same vision I had, I felt even more terrified.
