Reading instructions – Business Strategy VT 2008
The material that has been dealt with on lectures is necessary readings for Pass level on the literature test. Related readings makes it possible to achieve higher marks.
Introduction to Strategy – OH material by Rune W
Literature that is connecting to the introduction is chapter 1 “Strategy” in the Book (Wit & Meyer 2005).
Mintzbergs article concerning "Ten Schools of Thoughts in Strategy Thinking".
Design School. The relevant literature is Andrews chapter enclosed in Kursmaterial and the first pages in Porters Competitive Strategy (pages 323-328), named as the "Five Forces" model. The Scottish brewery case was also relevant.
Literature that is connecting (= related readings) to the Design School and the Cognitive school, that are not dealt with on seminars is chapter 2 in the Book (Wit & Meyer 2005) and the two related articles (by Andrews and Ohmae) on pages 274-288.
Planning School. The relevant literature is text by Chakravarthy & Lorange "Managing the strategy process" (p 288-293) and the case Amazon.
Related readings in the text book can be found in chapter 3 "Strategy formation" and the other article by Quinn on p 293 in the Book (Wit & Meyer 2005).
Positioning School. The relevant literature is text by Porter, M., "Competitive strategy" (p 328-334); text by Hedley,B., "strategy and the business portfolio" (p 348-355) and the case Passenger Cruise Industry

Network level strategy. The relevant literature is text by Hamel, Doz & Prahalad p 367.
