Get US out of the UN!
As an arms race, imperialism, nationalism, and a single assassination spread across Europe, the world trembled on the advent of one of greatest disasters of mankind, World War I. WWI signified the realities of a conflicting shrinking world as new technologies such as planes and communications brought the world ever closer. In the smoldering ashes of this tragic war, the world sought an international solution for conflict by creating the League of Nations in 1919 (League). The United States wisely abstained from the European politics and did not accept membership due to its policy of isolationism. Unfortunately, the League failed horribly to stop the beginning of an even more horrific war, WWII. After the disintegration of the League in 1941 all its shattered hopes were reassembled again into a new disillusionment for world order, the United Nations. The UN was created in the ruble of the Second World War by the victors to ensure their political dominance and status in a very uncertain future. It is unfortunate the world did not learn from the failed League of Nations, as the UN continues to be a corrupt, undemocratic, and ineffective peacekeeping organization due to its corrupt appointed members, undemocratic member nations, and stalemated political structure. The United States had it right the first time when it abstained from the League of Nations. The United States must stop funding and participating in the United Nations if it intends to continue an active doctrine of democracy, peace, and liberty throughout the international world by means of a tried and true unilateral approach.
Undoubtedly, the United States remains the world’s single superpower and has the ability to handle most international conflict of national interest unilaterally due to its unmatched military strength and economic resources. Why should the United States join an...
