Nuclear Family versus Contemporary Society

A gender is defined as a set of perceived behavioral norms associated particularly with males or females in a given social group or system. An individual can be viewed as either masculine or feminine. Nuclear families have different views of the gender roles for women and men. In today’s society I am sure many people would like to go back to the way things were back in the day when the man would work and the woman would be a housewife. First, in education the nuclear family believes the gender specific education, high professional qualification is important only for the man. I too can agree with the statement in a sense. I am old fashion up until a certain extent. I do believe that certain jobs should be completed by a man. Yes, it may sound strange coming from a woman. However, I do believe a woman can do anything if she sets her mind to it. I remember when I was younger it seemed odd for a woman to be a garbage man, truck driver, basketball player, and even a doctor. I remember being in school and the teacher asked the students “what would you like to be when you grow up?” Many female students said they would like to be a teacher, a nurse, and a lawyer. However, the male students said doctors, firefighters, and police officers. In today’s society you see a lot of women in college now versus men. Women are becoming more independent and aggressive. Women are going in different fields for their education engineering, becoming a doctor, policewoman, basketball player, firefighter, etc. One of the main reasons, in my opinion, you are seeing a change in the gender roles is because of absent parents. A nuclear family consists of a man who is making the income, the wife who takes care of the household duties, and then you have a couple of children.
