SEQUENCE 1

(Scenes # 1-5) A woman and a man are committing adultery in a cabin. Andy sits in Plymouth drunk loading .38 revolver. SP: sets up Andy’s motive.
(Scenes # 5-8) Andy’s court case. The District Attorney accuses Andy of murdering his wife. Andy defends his innocence. Andy is found guilty and sentenced to two life sentences. SP: Sets up Andy’s problem, prison.
SEQUENCE 2
STORY POINT MADE IN THE SEQUENCE:
Introduce problem and other characters.
Andy’s prison life is like hell (nineteen pages)
(Scenes 9-10) Reds Parole hearing. SP: Introduces Red character and his voice over.
(Scenes 11-13) Andy arrives at Shawshank by bus. Red’s voice over explains his position of the being go to guy in prison. Hadley, the prison guard, introduced by leading prisoners off the bus. Red and his gang bet on what new prisoner will break the first day (a way of torquing the audience). SP: Exposition of Red and his first impression of Andy. Andy’s job as a banker through Red’s voice over. Introduces Red’s friends and their bet.
(Scenes 14-18) The new prisoners are in the admitting area. Warden Norton introduces himself and Hadley. He explains the rules at Shawshank. SP: Introduces the two antagonists Warden Norton and Hadley.
(Scenes 19-32) The new fish are in their cells being heckled by the fellow prisoners. Fat ass is the first to break and Hadley beats him to death. The polarity of the scene end negatively. Red looses bet. Introduces Brooks and his bird Jack SP: The difficulties of life in prison. Red’s looses bet.
(Scene 33) Andy is working at Laundry. SP: Andy’s prison occupation.
(Scenes 34-35) Andy is showering, Bogs talks to Andy in the shower asking if someone claimed him as a prison bitch. Andy cannot sleep in his cell. SP: Sets up subplot...
