Euphoria
Euphoria is more than just a word. Euphoria is breaking free, letting yourself drift away from life’s continuous complications and hassles, letting your mind withdraw from this world’s unrelenting anxiety and demands, and immerse itself completely in sheer happiness and delight.
Everyone has their own way of experiencing euphoria. For some it’s achieved through their favorite hobbies or sports, some through isolation and for some it’s attainable through the use of drugs or alcohol. My greatest highs come from no unnatural remedy. I find myself experiencing complete happiness and euphoria while secluding myself entirely into my obsessions, and forgetting the world.
The most awe-inspiring of these obsessions is gazing up into a starry night’s sky. Nothing can compare to the chill that runs up my spine when I stare into the vast cosmos and realize how small we really are. While lying there on my back porch or on the shore of a lake, hearing only the insects of night, I intricately study every aspect of the night sky in complete bliss of God’s beauty. Sometimes I find myself lost in the night’s magnificence for hours upon end; this is euphoria to its fullest.
Music is also capable of taking me to a point of absolute delight. While intently listening to music and all of its characteristics, I can find myself absorbed into it and suddenly my surroundings become inconsequential and my thoughts wander and once again I can experience this desired euphoric sensation.
I think that euphoric moments are necessary in everyone’s lives. We all need these special escapes from everyday life no matter which way we may choose to pursue them. It is in these instances we detach ourselves from the world and turn to our enhanced consciousnesses to become aware of who we really are.
