How English 093 Helped Me

English 093 has tremendously helped me to understand the basic concepts of English and   has well prepared me for what will be expected in English Composition I.   I have learned things in English 093 that will not only help me in English Composition I   but things that will help me in life.   I think the skills I have learned in this class have enabled me to move on to English Composition I and complete it successfully. In the following paragraphs I will give several examples of what I have learned and how it will help me in English Composition I.
I   learned how to diagram sentences my first week of English 093. Diagraming sentences is basically seperating the subject from the verb. One of my old worksheets had a sentence stating: The new freshmen write about history in class. If we were diagramming this sentence we would separate the words freshmen and write. Then we would describe the type of freshmen, which is done using the adjective “new”. Second, we would tell what they write, which is about history. Finally we would tell where they write it, which is in class.
Later on in English 093 I learned about the different types of sentences you can write. You can write compound sentences, complex sentences, and also simple sentences which are the most common. We also learned how to avoid sentence fragments and run-ons. Another important thing we learned about was grammar. Grammar is very important when writing letters, essays, and other types of papers. My first few weeks of class were very valuable to me because I knew these were basic skills I would need to know in English Composition I.
In my class we also learned about articles and possessives. Articles and possessives precede nouns. Articles are words like a, the, and an. Possessives are words like their, our, or your. We   learned about adjectives and adverbs and how they describe nouns and verbs. Adjectives can describe things like size and looks. Words like big, little, and bright are adjectives. Words like...
