Introduction
This paper will discuss the environmental and economic analysis of Dell Computer Corporation. The scan will include the major changes to affect the industry remotely, industry wise and operating environments. The non-economic factors such as political, technological, demographic, social and cultural will be identified.
A competitive analysis of Dell’s microeconomic perspective will be discussed along with the organizations primary products and services. A summary of the organization’s current situation, including its mission or business overview, its current competitive position, and the forces and trends in its industry will be explained.
Dell’s strengths and weaknesses in the organizations operating environment will discussed including how capitalization can be leveraged and emerging opportunities with threats being identified. Three to four strategic long-term objectives will be measured to determine the organizations success.
Dell Corporation
The Dell Organization was a vision by Michael Dell that was founded in 1984 from his dorm room at the University of Texas. Michael Dell bought computer products wholesale and sold them at retail prices from IBM the largest computer distributor during the 1980’s. The Dell Company sold personal computers directly to consumers instead of retail outlet distribution. Dell started with consumers buying computers to generate revenue and then aligned with government agencies to sell to businesses. The Dell Corporation went public on the stock market and then allowed retail outlets such as CompUSA and other retail chains to sell its computers during the 1990’s.
Dell did not begin to sell computer online until 1996 through its website which allowed for advanced technology to strategize through workstation distribution. Dell began to go into the computer storage business in 2000 and increased productivity of internet related services....
