Survey “Death Penalty Pros and Contras”
The system of justice in the whole world is supposed to be ideal nowadays. It means that in modern law all kinds of crimes and punishments for them are stipulated. Convicted criminals must get a harsh sentence for inhuman crimes like serial murders or children rape in other words paedophilia. The aim of the survey was to figure out the attitude of modern society to the severest sentence DEATH PENALTY. Moratorium on the death penalty in Russia is terminated by 2010. That’s why this question is essential in the country. People from ages between 18 and 70 were questioned.
About 53% of teenagers support the usage of the death penalty. Which means that young people are concerned with this subject.
A large proportion of students find the subject of the research not essential.
On the contrary most people between 45 and 70 think that question must be put on the agenda in the government immediately.
The majority of the respondents according to the religious beliefs suppose that death penalty must be abolished. What shows that modern society is still religious mostly.
A significant number of people younger than retirement age find that life imprisonment for hardened criminals is really light sentence while money for maintenance of them are taken from the taxes society pays.
All things considered we have seen that usage of the death penalty is the subject the society is considered about. People think that the scale of punishment depends on the essentiality of the crime.
