Culture among Women in the U.S.: A Look at Past and Present History


Abstract
Culture is a magnificent concept and the studying of American women culture helps us show how different the culture has become for women. By studying American culture, among woman between the 18th century and the 21st century helps us understand how much a woman has become to be, from a housewife –dependant to a professional - independent. Woman of today are better with all the changes that have occur in the past to present. Women are more accountable for decision making in today’s culture. As time passed, a number of historical events helped changed the way women live and are viewed. During the 18th century there were many reform movements that took place. Reform movements did not always work but the ones that did greatly changed the way our nation operates today. One of the movements was the women’s suffrage movement that started to change the women’s rights to know on the 21st century. This movement changed the perspective of woman in the 21st century. The change that evolved the women has become better in today’s society. We know have woman serving in high power jobs that men always had. The primary debate in this paper will be to show that the perception of culture showed is to be viewed as something that evolves through time, such as the hardships in living in the 1800s as compared to the facilitated life women have now. The purpose of this paper is to explain the nature of changes and the causes that women have gone through. By stating this, it does not mean that equality among the American culture to women is complete; this will take yet more culture changes in America in order for this region to create fairness amongst its people and its culture.
