Country Living Versus City Living
Country living versus city living, which side are you on? Both prospective living environments have their advantages and disadvantages too. The hustle and bustle of the city or the peace of the country everyone has his or her own preference. Most people seem to be on the fence when it comes to which is the best place to live, the city or the country. The United States Census Bureau states the current population of the United States as of July 4, 2009 was 306,833,309 (Census Bureau, 2009). The most current account of the division of the census was April 1, 2000 with the urban population being 222,361,000 and the rural population being 59,061,000 (Census Bureau, 2000).
Clearly, most of the population of the United States lives in urban areas. But, with city living come the conveniences of having everything needed at your disposal when needed without having to travel long distances to access the heart’s desire. Along with this convenience comes the traffic congestion, over population, housing shortages, smog, noise pollution, overcrowded schools, and excessive prices that you will have to pay for to have the conveniences without having to travel to get to what you want. The stress of the cities hustle and bustle shows in the angry, hurried faces of the city dwellers. Is it all worth it? This is something every city dweller has to ask their selves. Many city dwellers would say “yes it is worth the cost” to be able to get up at 3 a.m. go down to the bakery on the corner and get a hot cup of coffee and a fresh baked Danish without having the hassle of making it and not have to commute to get it.
Country life, what can’t I say about it!
