Systems, said guestroom energy consumption typically accounts for 40 percent to 80 percent of a property’s total energy costs, depending on several factors. Saving money and improving the bottom line has long been a strategy embraced by the business world
The energy-management industry is taking off, with new products and players hitting the market, offering hoteliers a wide array of alternatives and control.
A main goal in any operation is yield management, which is minimizing costs & maximizing profits. In hospitality operations, the most important thing is to provide superior special services to the guests, but on the other hand to reduce the costs, mainly, energy costs. Hotel operators generally feel that the areas of the hotels that cost them the most money are the guestrooms. The best opportunity areas for energy efficiency improvements in hotels sector are lighting, heating and cooling systems followed by refrigeration, motors, elevators, and laundry.
Electricity is by far the largest energy commodity in commerce, hotels and restaurants. The consumption of electric energy in these industries is 83% of energy.
