Com140 - Persuasive Memo

DigiFast Software Corporation
Memorandum To: Steve Taylor, Facilities Manager
From: Jonathon Hughes JH
Date: November 28, 2008
Subject: Final proposal for the building’s new service As I believe that the preliminary information regarding the new café has been proliferated through the committee, I would like to highlight some of the major points for this new venture. The River View Plaza has a variety of different businesses residing in the building. Due to the location of the plaza, there are not many restaurants nearby. This presents a problem for the employees of the companies within the building who may not bring their lunch to work or who may work extended hours. By providing a café, we can ensure that the people that did not bring any meals to work can still have a resource to go buy a snack. Ideally, to keep those employees happy, we will keep their companies happy. The businesses that are currently situated with the plaza include a dentist, a law firm, an insurance company and DigiFast. Historically, these industries work beyond the normal 8 to 5 of most other industries. By providing a source of a quick snack, these people can get back to work without the extended interruption of going to the nearest restaurant, which is not all that near to the plaza. The snacks that will be served by the café will be simple in nature. This will not be a full restaurant. I expect that muffins, bagels and biscuits will be the main attractions since they are quick foods that do not require much preparation. These foods will be prepared offsite due to the nature of food preparation and the lack of space available at the plaza. This will save time for the potential customers of the café and reduce the storage necessary to run the café. There will also be the normal coffee drinks and various fruit juices. Please contact me if you should have any additional requests for information.
