Coaching Philosophy
What is your philosophy of life?
I am a simple person. When it comes to life, there is not much more that I want than to be happy. Not only to be happy with what I have, but to be happy as a person. Too many people in the world make possessions and financial gains their goals in life. In reflecting on the purpose of life, I have asked myself many times why am I here? Every time I think of this question, I think to myself that it I am not here to make my own, personal gains, but I am here to make a difference in the world. I believe religion plays a big part in life, but I do not necessarily believe in one “right” religion. I was raised a Catholic, but over the years have questioned many of the ideals and beliefs I was taught as a child.
This questioning has led to some of the beliefs that I hold most dear to my heart and those by which I live. The main idea that I believe and plays the biggest role in my life is the idea of Karma. I do not believe in Karma in the sense of reincarnation, per say, but the belief that life is based around being good to others. In my belief, Karma represents the effects that what we do, whether it is good or bad, has on others. Karma represents taking responsibility over one’s own life and being the source of pain or joy in others.
Living my life in this regard has made me believe that the ultimate purpose in life is to be as good to others as possible. Life is about touching others in as many ways as possible and making a positive difference for others. One of the biggest things that Karma has made me realize is that it is impossible to be true to others without first being true to oneself. This is one of the principles that John Wooden has lived by his entire life and it has been a big point in my short life.
