THINK THEREFORE I...“ CENSOR”
The media has been a dramatic chapter of human experience from the beginning of time, because it was always accused of having bombarded society with violence.Going back five centuries, it was newspapers that were thought to cause juvenile crime. Following World War II, violence and brutality in comic books was a huge concern in our society. Then in 1960 came the television. Once this “magic box” was introduced to our world, and once it started to display its negative and violent side a question connected with this issue arise: Should there be censorship on television?. Evidently, the answer is “yes”, because there is a significant problem with violence on television and; as a society, we have to confront it in order to educate children and adolescents who are the future of the world.

Nobody denies that all of us have the freedom to express our ideas without promping, and it is undeniable that television was an enourmous advance concerning communication, and it is yet a great necessity in today´s society. Even more, there are a lot of programmes wich are didactic and beneficial for us. Inspite of this facts, most of the programmes exceed the limits of freedom, and show unsuitable content.
The most affected of course are children. Little kids pick up everything they watch and listen. At any time, a child can turn on the t.v. and witness violence, explicit language and scenes that are sometimes far more than suggestive. These shows are seen on cable, regular television, news and cartoons. An Horrifying fact about media violence in children's lives shows thay by the end of elementary school, the average child will have seen 8,000 murders and 100,000 other violent acts in the media. What is more, studies have shown that too much television may cause children to become immune or numb to the horror of violence.
