Canadian Citizens Rights And Responsibilities
All Canadians enjoy certain rights based on Canada's tradition of democracy and respect for human dignity and freedom. These rights are found in Canada's Human Rights Codes and in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom. In order to become a Canadian citizen you have to learn English or French language. Most countries around the world do not agree to the rights that Canadian citizens have.
As Canadian citizens we have the following rights and more:
Right to vote in elections.
Right to run as a candidate in elections.
Right to enter, remain in or to leave Canada.
Right to live and work in any province or territory in Canada.
Minority language educational rights.
Right to work at the job of your choice
Right to be considered first for some jobs (federal government)
Right to hold a Canadian passport
Right to a fair trial
Equality rights, the right to protection against discrimination
Right to receive financial assistance
When a person becomes a Canadian citizen one has the right to elect the government one wants. One is allowed to run as a candidate in any election of one's choice. One can enter Canada, permanently leave (after first 3 years) without losing one's citizenship, or remain in Canada for as long as one likes. One can live in any province or territory in Canada. As long as you have the Canadian Passport you can go to most major countries in the world without needing a visa. If a citizen becomes bankrupt, he has the right to ask for financial assistance. If a citizen needs money for his education he again has the right to ask for financial assistance.
