Brother

Mike was going down the stairs. He's gotten four hours sleep last night. He was exhausted. Part of him wanted to sleep for a few hours, but he's stomach was waking him up. The trip down the stairs seemed like forever, his body was so heavy and weak. He walks to the kitchen to get something to eat. He opens the refrigerator to grab the milk.

The doorbells rings, it was too early in the morning, who could it be. He walked slowly to the front door, with a carton of milk in his left hand he opens the door, and looked up. He hesitated and widened his eyes. It felt unreal, like it wasn't really happening. He hasn't seen his brother for more than ten years. No contact whatsoever. No phone calls, letters, emailÂ…he thought he was dead or something. He was in shock; he didn't know what to feel or what to say. This came out of nowhere. He couldn't find the words to say.

He stepped back and opened the door wider to let him in. He started smiling and laughing. He was really happy to him now; he remembered how much he was missing him. It's been so long, but he never forgot his brother. His heart felt so warm, he took a big sigh and gave him a hug. Mike felt a tear in his eye, but he was strong. This was happy occasion. They walked back to the kitchen. He forgot how hungry he was. He was so happy, so full of excitement; his body wasn't in pain anymore. It's like he received this full-force energy all of a sudden. The smile on his face just wouldn't leave. This was a moment he's been waiting for, but never expected it to ever happen.
