When someone talks about Artificial Intelligence, the first things that come to mind are robots and emotional machines. Artificial intelligence (AI) is the part of computer science that is concerned with programming computers to show intelligent behavior. In today's world almost everyone uses a computer for one reason or another. Due to this increased use there is a big demand for more intelligent, more dependable programs to run the computers. AI work began in the 1950's when researchers wanted to use computers to replicate how humans think. This new area rapidly took off, but was difficult due to the lack of ability to produce anything that resembled human intelligence. Many people were skeptical in the early years of AI about the possibility of computers to "think". The only reason the failures happened in the 50’s and 60’s was because of limited technology available at the time. But because of the past mistakes and new technologies, the possibility of AI has led to many advances in the field. Scientists and theorists continue to debate if computers will actually be able to think for themselves at one point. The theory of AI that is being accepted is that computers will and do more thinking in the future. AI has grown quickly in the last ten years mainly because of the advances in computer design. “The term artificial intelligence was actually coined in 1956 by a group of scientists having their first meeting on the topic” (Patterson). In the beginning, the attempts at AI were modeled after the human brain. The success rate was very little because of the lack of computer technology needed to calculate such large equations. AI has several methods that could be used to implement. The popular implementations include neural networks, fuzzy logic, chaos engineering, knowledge based systems, and expert systems.
