Animal ethics is a complex subject. Rational arguments about rights and wrong way to treat animals are often clouded by a deep love that many of us feel for animals. For many it raises fundamental questions about the basis of moral rights.

Animal ethics has nothing to do with a sentimental love of animals the case can be made with great intellectual integrity also, it is ok to defend animal rights or argue that it is morally wrong to mistreat them, even if you dislike them.

For years animal rights activists have tried to prevent animal suffering, some taking their beliefs to extremes but by doing these thing's they have made people aware of the facts about what really happens to innocent animals everyday. Most animal right activist concerns are about preventing cruelty to animals- but should we go further? Should animal welfare only mean eliminating suffering? Or should it require us to provide happiness and love as well?

Two of the main topics which animal right activists have brought to the attention of the public are; animal testing and hunting. Although testing on animals has gone on for years and certain regulations are in place some of these experiments are barbaric and extremely cruel. Yet to this day it is still defended by the not only the scientist performing these tasks but by our own government as a necessary safety procedure , well you wouldn't want to spray your £60 perfume and get a rash would you ? But for the thousands of animals who wore it before you and died or was blinded because it was necessary to test whether it would hurt if it got into your eyes it simply was not an option. These innocent animals live there life in cadges waiting for the next test , yet according to guidelines they must have clean living environments and have food and water because that is their right.
