1. What are two examples of mitigation and adaptation, the two approaches to manage global climate change? Do you think that we can mitigate or adapt to climate change as a society? Why or why not?
Two examples of adaptation are: building higher roads near coastal areas that are expected to flood due to increased sea levels, building more desalination plants to create freshwater sources for anticipated drought conditions due to climate changes.
Two examples of mitigation are: to reduce greenhouse gases that cause global climate change, create or use carbon sinks.
I feel that we can adapt to climate change as a society because I feel that we would have no choice to because the world is changing sea level continues to rise, the climate is changing, and quite frankly things are not like they used to be.
2. Do you think the costs associated with mitigation are lesser than the costs associated with adaptation? Why or why not?
I think mitigation would cost less than adaptation because we would be making things better instead of building things that would just deal with what’s wrong and could get worse.
3. Do developed countries or developing countries contribute more to climate change? Which has a greater obligation to mitigate and adapt to global climate change? Which has a greater ability?
I think they do contribute to climate change and that developed countries has a greater obligation to mitigate and adapt to climate change. Developing countries have the greater ability to mitigate and adapt because they are developing and not developed yet kind of like fixing as you go.
