Alexander The Great:His Leadership

We have chosen to study Alexander the Great because he was in a leadership position that involved business, political, religious and military aspects. Alexander the Great had lived in 356-323 B.C. and his name points out the passage from the ancient world era to the beginning of a new modern one. With the above phrase the German historian J.G. Droysen starts his writing about Alexandros. There are many different opinions about his character, his life, his historic and social contribution and this is the main reason for the unnumbered writings in present time. Some of the most well known historians, writers, strategists and philosophers that wrote about Alexander's life and pictured his profile are the following: Curtius , Ioustinus, Arrianus ,Plutarch, Montesquieu, Voltaire   and many others.

1. Introduction (His origin).

Alexandros III Philippou Macedon, King of Macedonia was born in late July 356 BC in Pella, Macedonia, he was one of the greatest military genius in history. He conquered much of what was then the civilized world, driven by his divine ambition of the world conquest and the creation of a universal world monarchy.
He was the son of Philip II, King of Macedonia, and Olympias, an Epirote princess. Olympia was passionate, headstrong, mystical but immodest and unpopular among Philip's Macedonian courtiers. She was superstitious and participated in orgiastic rites of the cult of Dionysus. It was during one of these sexual festivals that the 20 year old Greek princess met Philip. Soon after them married and one year after the festival Alexander was born.

2. Vision (Personality and management).

Alexander's actions were inspired: by one god, one demigod, one hero and one sovereign. Dionysios - a divinity. Hercules - a demigod. Achilles - a hero. Cyrus the Great - The Persian emperor.
