Advantages And Disadvantages

E-mail has had a huge impact on professional and social communication, but this impact has been negative as well as positive. Do the disadvantages outweigh the advantages?

The creation of our greatest gadget, namely the computer has brought about the introduction of e-mail usage. Internet has brought the world closer than ever, which enables e-mail being used as a tool of communication. E-mail, the electronic mail is defined as the exchange of computer-stored messages by telecommunication. E-mail is commonly utilized in various fields and professions such as trading an education and even for social communication purposes.

E-mail although is popular and indispensable in this society has its pros and cons. One of the advantages of e-mailing is it is quick and easy. Sending documents has been made convenient with the usage of e-mail. One no longer needs to go to the post office to send documents to the recipient and wait a long period of time before the mail is received by the recipient. This allows higher efficiency in various fields especially in trading where information has to be sent and received as soon as possible.

Another good point of e-mail is that information sent has a back up. One can just go to any computer available and open the inbox and sent folder and everything is in there. E-mails sent and e-mail received. Any lost information can be retrieved just by a few clicks on the mouse. There is no risk of lost, theft and damage on the information as everything has its back up. This has resulted in a better storage of information in this world of technology.

Despite the many advantages of e-mail, e-mail has also its short-comings. One of the weaknesses of the usage of e-mail is that this means of communication may be disrupted when there is power failure or when the internet connection is down. Imagine if this happens, companies which use e-mail as the tool of communication may not be able to send and receive information needed. This...
